英検1級二次試験スピーチサンプル4「植物や動物の絶滅は避けられない？」その2

「英検1級二次試験に一発合格したMBAホルダーが公開するスピーチサンプルシリーズ」です。

今回のお題はこれです。

Yes "Is the extinction of some plant and animal species enevitable?"
(植物や動物の絶滅は避けられない？)

この手の問題に対して「絶滅は避けれません」というシニカルな回答をするのはお勧めできません。

無難なのは、「絶滅は避けることができる」と主張したうえで、そのために必要なことを列挙する、というスピーチです。

というわけで、前回はこの質問に対し、"No"と主張するスピーチを考えてみたのですが、今回はあえて、"Yes"と主張してみます。

まず、絶滅は避けられない、という根拠を最低２つあげましょう。

私の場合は、つぎの２つを思いつきました。

・植物や動物が絶滅するのは人間に責任のないケースもある。自然現象で絶滅するのは避けられない。

・豊かな先進国は自然環境を守る余裕があるが、新興国や貧しい国では絶滅防止を考える余裕がない。

これをもとにスピーチを考えます。


I agree with this argument. I believe that the extinction of some plant and animal species is inevitable from following reasons.

Firstly,in many cases, human being was not responsible for the extinction of species of plant and animal. Human being did not kill them. Instead, they died due to the other reasons. For example, natural disasters or stronger animals killed them all. Such cases were not under our control and the extinction could not be avoided.

Secondly, in emerging countries and poor countries, poor people do not have other choice rather than cutting plants and killing animals. They cannot stop doing it, otherwise they would die. To deal with these cases, developed countries tries to support the poor countries and let them stop destroy environment. However, it is significantly difficult for developed countries to control everything of poor countries.

From these reasons, I concluded that the the extinction of some plant and animal species is inevitable. That's all of my speech. Thank you for your attention.

このように、本来なら"No"と回答したい質問に対して"Yes"と主張することは、頭の体操になります。また、スピーチの後の質疑応答の練習にもなります。
